Christmas had been a quiet affair so Jim was hoping the New Year's Eve would be less so. He'd invited McCoy along with him but the older man had begged off, saying he was too old for this shit or something. Uhura and Spock were spending time together so it was just Jim and a bar full of people he didn't know.

He was about two drinks in and he'd taken up residence in a corner booth in the back, sitting there alone. There were tons of beautiful women around and he just didn't want to flirt with them right now. Maybe after he got drunk he'd be better prepared but right now, he just wanted to be alone.

"That sounds like you wanna invite her," Jim joked, smiling lazily at her. "Make her jealousy go away."

He slid one finger down her cheek and neck slowly.

"Mmm." She shook her head. Only just a little bit, though. She didn't want to jostle his hand right now. "Don't feel like sharing."

They'd be at their floor in juuust a moment but she still leaned in and gave the side of his neck a kiss. "You're mine tonight, Kirk."

"And what a fine thing to be," he murmured, smiling down at her gently. "You gonna call me Jim tonight or just a bunch of names that aren't Jim?"

"If you ask me very nicely."

There was that edge to her smirk again. She hadn't had that when they'd first met. She hadn't been as interested in making people bow down to her back then.

The elevator dinged, and the doors opened. She pulled away and turned and pulled him out into the hallway with her, the key in her other hand.

"I have to ask you for nice things now?" Jim asked, sounding interested in that. He was also interested in watching her ass again, watching it move back and forth and he sighed longingly.

"Yes," Envy replied, simply. "I decide what you get."

She let go of his hand again – giving him more room for watching her ass, not that that had been her goal – while she went to open the door. It unlocked with a click, and she stepped into the room.

It had luxury written all over it, from the huge red leather bed to the details on the arm chairs.

Jim stepped inside, shut the door, turned to face the room and stopped short.

"Holy shit," he mumbled, shaking his head. "This is...a lot."

"This is just enough," Envy replied, surveying the room. It was a bit much, maybe. But she was telling herself she deserved this for her heartache.

"You sure you can afford this?" Jim asked because he hadn't even asked if she wanted him to help pay for it. "I don't want you to be going broke or anything."

[whenshewasnice]

She looked amused as she looked back at him over her shoulder. "I'm paid more than I spend. I can afford this for two nights."

[pursuedthestars]

"If you're sure..."

Jim wasn't going to argue. Instead, he padded into the room and found the bed where he promptly belly flopped down. He sighed and rolled onto his back, pleased with the night's turn of events.

"Are you getting lazy on me already?" Envy tsked as she walked over to the bed, still in her high heels. "I don't think that was part of the plan."

"Why does laying down on the bed mean I'm lazy?" Jim wondered, shrugging. "Maybe I just wanted to test out the bed."

[whenshewasnice]

"It was the way you did it," she replied, shaking her head. Barely. "Very floppy."

[pursuedthestars]

"That's very presumptuous, Miss Adams," Jim chided, waggling a finger at her. "How should I have crawled onto the bed? Slowly and seductively?"

[whenshewasnice]

Envy tilted her head.

"Who says you were allowed to get on the bed yet at all?"

[pursuedthestars]

"I'm already on the bed so if that's the case, I'm breaking your rules," he said and smiled up at her. "Oops."

[whenshewasnice]

"Guess you don't feel like getting laid then," Envy replied with a sigh, as she turned around and walked away from the bed. "Shame."

She wasn't actually going further than to the bathroom, to check it out.

"Shame," he echoed, watching her move and raising an eyebrow. "So, getting laid requires me to get off the bed? I thought we'd need the bed."

[whenshewasnice]

"Foreplay has its uses, Kirk," she replied, half leaning into the bathroom. Huh. There was a TV there, too. "Doesn't matter. I'll work with it."

"Can you please call me Jim?" he requested with a sigh. "Calling me Kirk makes me feel like I'm on the ship and I'm not there right now."

[whenshewasnice]

"Not until you've earned it, Jim."

Yes, there was a contradiction there. She didn't care.

"Why do I have to earn my name but you don't?" he wondered, picking his head up and listening to her move around.

[whenshewasnice]

"Because I picked mine." And it was dangerous ground to tread on. She stepped into the bathroom, ran her hand along the edge of the tub.

"And I like mine," he retorted, letting his head flop back down. "I'm using yours, please use mine."
