"Just saying in the form of encouraging words," Jim said, giving her a hard time because he could. "Pep. Talk."

"Fine, I'm taking back my encouragement," Envy retorted. "I don't understand what you're going through at all, and my life is all-around fabulous, because nothing is hard work."

"Well, now you're just bringing me down," Jim said, snickering. "Doom and gloom, Natty, doom and gloom. Cheer up, buttercup."

"You can't have it both ways, Jimbo."

Yes, now he was Jimbo and he needed to deal with that.

"I can have whatever I want. Pike taught me that," he quipped. "I'm being confident."

[whenshewasnice]

"But you still fear pep talks."

Inaccurate wording but she didn't care.

"Not fear. Don't want," Jim said with a shake of his head. "There's a difference. Don't put words in my mouth, Natty."

"But it's the only thing I can put in your mouth right now," Envy argued. Very seriously, of course.

But not.

"What the hell else would you put in my mouth if you were here?" Jim had to asked. "Your fingers? A steak? I'd be cool with both of those."

"I'm not there, so I guess you'll never find out."

Too bad!

"Oh, too bad," Jim said, sighing. "Fine, we'll see if I can make it your thing and get the answer there."

[whenshewasnice]

"Guess that's the only way." It was. She half-smiled, to herself. "It was nice talking to you, Jim."

And she wouldn't bother admitting that to just anyone.

"You too. Hopefully I'll see you soon," Jim said. "Until then, have fun!"

"You too. With your boredom."

And with that, she hung up.
