Room 222 | Sunday Morning

For the most part, Jim had gotten used to living with a cat. Moxy wasn't too bad and the fact that he seemed to hate Jackson made him all the more better in Jim's mind. But (and this was a big but), Moxy did like to torment Jim at times.

This morning was one of those times. Jim was right in the middle of a very, very nice dream. He wasn't going to tell anyone what it was about but that became a moot point anyway when Moxy jumped onto his back and proceeded to claw lightly at his hair and shoulders. For a second or two, Jim ignored it. Maybe Moxy would go away.

Moxy did not go away and then went about kneading at Jim's shoulders before the damn cat started pacing up and down on his back.

"Oh my god, go away," he muttered, batting at Moxy sleepily. Moxy just tumbled off his back and came to curl up right against his face. Now Jim had a mouthful of cat fur. "You're disowned."

Moxy purred and blinked in his very feline way at Jim. He knew he wasn't going anywhere.

"Ugh," Jim said and tried to go back to sleep.

"Because I will tell you, in no uncertain terms," she replied without missing a beat. "Unless it's you who decides to break things off, obviously."

"Mmm. Okay." Well, he had no plans to do that in the immediate future. "I'm fine with Toronto if that's where you wanna go. You book the hotel and use your significant power to get us a good room."

"So, money and charm," Natalie quipped. "And you bring my cat, and yourself. And whatever else you might feel bringing."

"I've got a few presents for you too," he told her. "So, if I feel that you've been good, I'll bring those too."

[whenshewasnice]

"But you like me better when I'm bad," Natalie pointed out, smiling to herself anyway.

Hey, she was pretty sure he'd even told her that once or twice!

"Perhaps," Jim admitted with a nod. "So, maybe I'll bring your gifts if you promise to be super bad when I see you."

[whenshewasnice]

"I'll be bad," she promised easily. "I'll be very bad. And you'll come on some fine hotel sheets for me."

[pursuedthestars]

"Sounds like a promise," he said cheekily. "Maybe I'll bring the gifts after all. Sounds like I have a good night in store for me."

[whenshewasnice]

"You do." She had no problem with making promises like that. Confidence, she had it. "And I haven't even demanded any dirty promises in return. Maybe I should."

[pursuedthestars]

"Oh, you're expecting me to be able to return the sentiment after all these things you want to do to me?" Jim asked, amused. "Then, whatever you're gonna do must not be the real deal after all if I can recover that quickly."

Teasing her, yes.

"Oh, no, I'm expecting you to do your part before all that," she retorted. "Because afterwards, I'm expecting you to just want to get cuddled while doze off for some rest."

[pursuedthestars]

"And what do you want me to do?" he asked her, snickering. "To you, I mean."

[whenshewasnice]

"That'll depend on my mood on the day, won't it?" Natalie replied. "Could be going down on me since you're so very good at that, could be..."

She trailed off for a second, with a thoughtful, teasing little 'mm'.

"Could be punishing me for being so bad."

"And you won't decide until that day, huh?" Jim guessed with a laugh. "What if you're in an absolutely horrible mood? What then?"

Just curious!

"Then there'll be no pegging and no spanking for anyone, and I'll just read a book."

She was probably not going to be in a horrible mood like that.

[pursuedthestars]

"And I'd just be bored so I hope you're not in a horrible mood," he replied. "Book the room, Natalie. And you know I'll be there."

[whenshewasnice]

"You wouldn't be bored, I'd give you a book too." Or he could play with Moxy! "I'll do my best not to be in a horrible mood, though."

[pursuedthestars]

"I'd be bored," he said because after all this talk, getting a book would be boring. "If you feel yourself sliding towards that, just think of me. Or your cat."

"But what if my horrible mood is because of one of you?"

What, it could happen.

[pursuedthestars]

"How would that even happen?" Jim asked, raising an eyebrow. "After this conversation, I probably won't see you until New Year's. You're reaching."

[whenshewasnice]

"I could become delirious from stress, have a bad dream, and then blame you for something you did in said dream."

See? Completely plausible.

[pursuedthestars]

"You're reaching and if I showed up and you were like that, I wouldn't stick around," he told her, shaking his head. "Not a chance."

[whenshewasnice]

"Why not?" She knew why not. "Haven't you missed me?"

[pursuedthestars]

"Yes. But I also don't want to be blamed for nothing," he replied with a shrug. "So, I wouldn't stick around to be blamed for a dream."

[whenshewasnice]

"I'd only blame you at first, and then I'd curl up with my book," she decided. "Does that make a difference, or should I just rejoice in the fact that you just said you miss me?"
